By Constitution the Board consists of 12 Directors - the office bearers and 6 ordinary members; and 7 Ex officio members appointed by the Council of the Municipalities of Rockdale, Kogarah, Hurstville and Sutherland Shire, State Government, Commonwealth Government and a nominee appointed by the Board of the association who represents community based organisations providing services in the St George and/or Sutherland area.

The Board are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.

Name: Sergio Bustamante JP

Current Position: Committee Member
Profile: Sergio is an Honorary Ambassador of the Rockdale Council and has for many years contributed to the welfare of the Spanish speaking community. Sergio currently represents the Management Committee on the SGMRC OH&S Committee. Sergio has been selected by Rockdale City Council to receive Rockdale Volunteer of the Year Award 2008.

Current Position: Vice Chairperson
Profile: Mikall is an active community based volunteer with diverse interests including welfare groups, Rotary, church and "riverlife" environmental programs. He has many years of experience working with the CALD community. Currently works with the St George and Sutherland Community College.

Current Position: Secretary
Profile: Ruth has extensive working experience with new arrivals in St George and Sutherland areas, as a manager with the AMEP at a local college. As a manager Ruth was also responsible for staff and financial management. Ruth holds a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education (TESOL)

Profile: Khalil has over 30 years experience in community work and 20 years in management at SGMRC and St George Joint Lebanese Committee. He currently works as Multicultural Health Officer at the South East Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service.

 

Name: Rosaline Havea

Current Position: Treasurer
Profile: Rosaline holds a BA of Arts and a Master in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. Rosaline has a strong involvement with community work particularly with the South Pacific Islander communities. Currently, she is working as a Human Resource Manager for a large non-Government organization.

 

Name: Vera Hayes

Current Position: Vice Secretary
Profile: Vera has worked in the area of Multicultural Education with TAFE for over 20 years, starting with the statewide Multicultural Education Unit. She then worked at Liverpool College for over 11 years in the role of Multicultural Coordinator and was on the Liverpool MRC Management Committee for 3 years. She is currently at St George College as a Multicultural Coordinator and works with migrant communities in the St George area. She holds a BA in Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education (TESOL).

Profile: Branislav has a long history as a volunteer. He is the Management Committee member of Macedonian Australian Welfare Association. He has been awarded for his achievement by the Community Relations Commission.

He currently works at St George Mental Health Service as a bilingual Mental Health Counselor Between 1987 and 1990 he served as a part time Commissioner with the Ethnic Affairs Commission of NSW. Dushan holds Bachelor of Social Science and Master Degree in Counseling.

Profile: Australian of Egyptian origin speaks English, Arabic, Russian and French. Professor of Environmental Sciences, Rifaat has organised, presented and supervised training scholarships and conferences internationally on environment issues.

Strong advocate of partnership work, community participation and development.
