SGMRC provides linguistically and culturally sensitive aged and disability services to a diverse ethno-specific community in St George area ranging from Macedonian, Greek, Italian, South Asian, Vietnamese, Chinese to Arabic. Other community groups are added as the need arises. All projects use bilingual/bicultural workers to support frail aged people and the disabled.

Multicultural Day Care Program (MDCP) operates from our Bexley Center to offer respite & social activities for people who are frail aged and live in the St George area. Groups usually meet once a week. Culturally appropriate meals and transport are provided for that day. Outings are also held monthly.

The CALD Community Care Program (CCCP) is a support, information and referral service for Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) older people, people with disabilities and their carers living in the St George and Sutherland areas. The CCCP serves as a point of entry into the community care system for CALD clients by providing:

  • Information about Home & Community Care (HACC) services
  • Guided referral, follow up and case work
  • Individual advice and emotional support
  • Carer Support Groups, Social Groups, Social Outings
  • Information sessions and workshops

The CCCP can also provide advice, support and training to HACC service providers aimed and making the HACC service system more responsive to the needs of the CALD HACC target population – Strengthening Capacity.

The Multicultural Community Aged Care Package (CACP) provides culturally and linguistically appropriate support for the elderly people of Non English Speaking Background who live in St George areas and Sutherland Shires. The services are individually planned with coordinated packages of care tailored to help clients remain living in their own homes and aim to prevent early admission into nursing home or hostel for support. This is achieved by providing a package of care ie. personal care, showering, shopping, cleaning, transport to appointments, etc. which is planned to meet the persons needs.
